Benefits of a pitch review
Not only do you get a sense of relief that the pitch is going to be the very best you can deliver. You will know that the process of becoming pitch perfect will ensure that future pitches are also going to be great.
It won't only be the account managers that benefit. The creative staff will be motivated because they know what is required.
A pitch review might also highlight hidden strengths and weaknesses in other areas of the agency. For instance it will reveal the strength of the client relationship, how compelling the presentation skills are and how competent the agency is at negotiating.
Delivering the best pitch does not guarantee that you will win every time. But even coming second can have its rewards. A losing agency with a good pitch might be asked to return if other projects appear. A poor pitch does not get another invitation.

Here is one example of a pitch that was completely turned round. The client brief asked for evidence as to HOW they would deliver the specialist marketing services being pitched for. It was clear to me as an independent outsider that the client recognised that the agencies being asked to pitch were competent in general terms but wanted to be convinced as to how the agency would tackle it.
The initial pitch spent too much time selling their general marketing expertise. Slide after slide focused on previous client wins, existing clients, past performances. Statistics were fired like a machine gun. But in the entire 25 minute presentation, the agency did not once answer the question the client had posed. HOW will you do it for me, the client?
Credence worked with the team and in so doing turned their fortunes around. We cut out all the background material. We put up one slide that highlighted the breadth of expertise and experience and if the client needed more then the agency would supply it. We spent 60% of the time easing the client's pain. By the end of the pitch it was clear that they were convinced and the agency was awarded the contract.
